This recipe is a simple and flavorful way of enjoying salmon. The brining process helps the fish retain moisture and tenderness during cooking. Ginger and green onions add a punch of umami and freshness to the dish, while soy sauce brings depth of flavor.
Ingredients (for 4)
- Salmon fillets - 4
- Salt - 2 tablespoons
- Water - 4 cups
- Sliced ginger - 1/2 cup - sliced
- Chopped green onions - 1/2 cup - chopped
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons

Step 1 - π§π§π£Mix water and salt until salt is fully dissolved. Add salmon fillets and let it brine for 15 minutes.

Step 4 - π½οΈπ§ π§ππPlace the salmon fillets on a plate and top them with sliced ginger and chopped green onions. When the water is boiling, place the plate with the salmon in the steamer and cover with a lid.

You can use other aromatics such as garlic, lemongrass or chili peppers to infuse the salmon with different flavors. To make it more indulgent, you can add a drizzle of sesame oil on top before serving. Kids can help by measuring and mixing the brine solution, rinsing and patting dry the salmon, and arranging the ginger and green onions on top.
