Spicy Turkey Burger

Nothing screams American BBQ more than a juicy burger! But for a more seasonal twist, we are using Turkey in this recipe, combined with sweet and spicy flavors found in a BBQ sauce made from scratch.
Ingredients (for 2)
- Ground turkey - 1 lb - formed into two patties
- Brioche buns - 2
- Yellow onion - - thinly sliced
- Carrot - - shredded
- Mayonnaise - 2 tbsp
- White wine vinegar - 1 tbsp
- Brown sugar - 1 tbsp
- Tomato sauce - 1/2 cup
- Chipotle peppers in adobo sauce - 1 tbsp
- Liquid smoke - 1 tsp
- Paprika - 1 tsp
- Cumin - 1 tsp
- Salt - - to taste
- Pepper - - to taste
- Olive oil - 1 tbsp
Preparation

Step 1 - 🔥🌡️🍔Preheat grill to medium heat.

Step 2 - 🧅🍳🔥Thinly slice onions and cook them in a skillet until golden brown and crispy.

Step 3 - 🍔🍞🔥Toast brioche buns in a small skillet until golden brown.

Step 4 - 🥕🥣👩🍳Mix mayo, vinegar and shredded carrots in a small bowl.

Step 5 - 🥫🌶️👩🍳In another small bowl mix together tomato sauce, brown sugar, chipotle peppers, liquid smoke, paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper.

Step 6 - 🍔🔥🌶️Grill turkey patties basting them with the BBQ sauce using a brush.

Step 7 - 🍔🥬🧅Layer the toasted bun with BBQ sauce, turkey patty, crispy onions and carrot slaw. Repeat for the second burger.

Additional
You can use any type of ground meat for this recipe (chicken, pork, beef). To make this dish gluten-free, swap the brioche buns for a gluten-free bun or lettuce wrap. Kids can help mix the BBQ sauce, shape the patties and build their own burger.
