Preparation
-
Step 1 - 🍞⏲️👀Follow the packet instructions to prepare the baozi dough. Allow it to rest if needed until it doubles in size.
-
Step 2 - ✂️🍞🍊Divide the dough into 8 portions. Flatten each portion and place half a tablespoon of low-sugar tangerine marmalade in the center. Afterward, gather the edges, twist to seal, and place on a greased surface.
-
Step 3 - 🥟🍲⏲️Arrange the baozi in the steamer, ensuring they're not touching each other or the sides of the steamer. Steam for 15-20 minutes or until they've puffed up and look glossy.
-
Step 4 - 💦🔥⏲️Bring 2 cups of water to boil. Add the finely grated ginger and allow it to simmer for 5 minutes.
-
Step 5 - 🍊💦🍯Squeeze juice out of 2 tangerines. Add this juice and 2 tablespoons of honey to the saucepan. A pinch of salt can enhance the flavors.
-
Step 6 - 🥟🍊☕Serve the fluffy baozi hot, sprinkled with black sesame seeds and zest of tangerine. Pour the tea into glass cups, garnishing with tangerine slices and a mint leaf.
Additional
The light baozi dough can be a wonderful canvas for many fillings. You can experiment with seasonal veggies or fruits. For non-vegetarians, traditional pork filling would also work great with the tangy sweetness of tangerines. Kids can help shape the baozi, making your brunch prep a fun family event!
