Tex-Mex Charred Onion Sliders

We're bringing you a taste of the Southwest, with a twist. This snack balances the wealth of Tex-Mex spices with the summer-fresh sweetness of onion and bell peppers, without being overly predictable. The star of this dish is the unique combination of ingredients and the great potential it has for personal customization.
Ingredients (for 2)
- Large onion - 1 - thinly sliced
- Bell peppers of different colors - 2 - julienned
- Slider buns - 4
- Ground beef - 1/2 pound
- Cajun seasoning - 1 tbsp
- Ripe avocado - 1
- Cilantro leaves - a handful - chopped
- Cheese slices - 4
- Olive oil - 2 tbsp
- Salt and pepper - to taste
Preparation

Step 1 - 🔥🥘🌶Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Add onions and bell peppers, sprinkle with a dash of salt and pepper, and sauté until charred and caramelized.

Step 2 - 🥩🍔🌶Divide ground beef into 4 portions and shape each into rounds to fit your slider buns. Season with Cajun seasoning.

Step 3 - 🔥🍔🧀Sear beef patties in the same skillet until cooked to your liking, flip once to ensure each side is well-cooked. Add cheese slices in the last minute of cooking.

Step 4 - 🔥🍞😋Toast the inside of buns on the skillet until slightly browned.

Step 5 - 🥑🧂🌿Mash avocado, mix it with a dash of salt, pepper, and a sprinkle of chopped cilantro.

Step 6 - 🍔🥑🧷Spread guacamole on the bottom half of each bun. Top with patty, then charred onions and peppers. Secure with a fancy toothpick to help them hold together.

Step 7 - 🍔🥑🍽Serve immediately with extra guacamole on the side.

What's fantastic about these sliders is that they are open to so many possibilities. Try it with different types of cheese or perhaps add smoked bacon. If you prefer a more fiery kick, mix some jalapeno slices into your guacamole. Kids can help assemble the sliders, adding another layer of fun to meal preparation.
