A little about this dish
Today we're going to dive into a fusion of Chinese culinary tradition and summer heartiness. Our key players are succulent seafood and vibrant okra — a unique combination bound to awaken your taste buds with a plethora of textures and flavors!
Ingredients (for 4)
- Okra — 2 cups — cleaned, stems removed, cut into bite-sized pieces
- Large shrimp — 12 — deveined, shells and tails removed
- Squid — 2 — cleaned and cut into rings
- Cornstarch — 1 cup
- Sweet chili sauce — 1 bottle
- Black sesame seeds — 1 tbsp
- Coriander leaves — few sprigs
- Lime — 2 — cut into wedges
- Canola oil — enough for deep frying
- Salt — to taste
Preparation
-
Step 1 — 🍤✂️🌱Clean and cut your seafood and okra into bite-sized pieces. Set them aside for later.
-
Step 2 — 🍳🔥Heat enough canola oil in a deep-fryer or a deep saucepan suitable for frying.
-
Step 3 — 🍤🌽🧂Toss seafood and okra in a bowl with 1 cup of cornstarch and salt to taste.
-
Step 4 — 🌱🔥🍤Deep-fry the coated seafood and okra in the hot oil until they turn golden brown. Remove and drain on a kitchen towel to get rid of excess oil.
-
Step 5 — 🌶️🍤🌿Arrange your fried seafood and okra on a serving platter. Drizzle sweet chili sauce over them, and sprinkle black sesame seeds. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve with lime wedges on the side.
A final fox tip
