Nothing screams Oktoberfest like a good, juicy Bratwurst, but let's give it a fabulous twist. With aromatic Bratwurst, sweet apples, and tangy sauerkraut in a savory beer broth, our Iconic Oktoberfest Apple and Bratwurst Stew is a feast for the senses.

Ingredients (for 4)

  • Bratwurst sausages4thickly sliced
  • Apples2peeled, cored and diced
  • German beer1 bottle (330 ml)
  • Sauerkraut2 cupsdrained
  • Chicken broth2 cups
  • Onion1 largediced
  • Garlic cloves2minced
  • Celery leavesfor garnish
  • Canola oil2 tablespoons
  • Saltto taste
  • Pepperto taste

Preparation

  1. Step 1 — 🍳🌭🔥
    In a large pot, heat 1 tablespoon of Canola oil over medium heat. Add thickly sliced Bratwurst sausages and cook until browned. Remove from the pot.
  2. Step 2 — 🍳🧅🔥
    In the same pot, add another tablespoon of oil. Add a large diced onion and two minced garlic cloves. Cook until the onions are translucent.
  3. Step 3 — 🍳🍏🧂
    Put the peeled, cored and diced apples to the pot. Cook until they are slightly softened. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper.
  4. Step 4 — 🍺🍲🥣
    Pour in the bottle of German beer and 2 cups of chicken broth. Add 2 cups of drained Sauerkraut and the browned Bratwurst sausages. Stir to combine.
  5. Step 5 — 🔥💧⏲️
    Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes.

    Taste and adjust salt and pepper as needed.
