Ingredients (for 4)
Preparation
-
Step 1 - π‘οΈπ₯£π₯Preheat your oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C). In a bowl, toss diced celeriac with 1 tbsp of olive oil, fresh rosemary, thyme, and finely chopped garlic. Spread the seasoned celeriac on a baking sheet and roast in the preheated oven for 20 minutes until it caramelizes.
-
Step 2 - π§ππ€In a separate bowl, combine the active dry yeast, 1 tsp of sugar, and 1 cup of warm water. Leave it to rest for about 10 minutes until the yeast turns frothy.
-
Step 3 - ππ₯£πTo the yeast mixture, add the strong white bread flour, remaining olive oil, and 1 tsp of salt. Mix all the ingredients until a dough forms. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
-
Step 4 - π₯π§β‘οΈπFold in the cooled, roasted celeriac and 1/2 cup of grated parmesan into the dough. Shape the dough into a round loaf. Leave it in a warm place for about an hour, or until it has doubled in size.
-
Step 5 - π₯π₯βοΈBake the ready bread in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden. Let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.
Additional
This bread is hearty and flavorful on its own, but it also pairs exceptionally well with soups and hearty winter stews. For a spicier kick, consider adding a sprinkle of red pepper flakes to the celeriac before roasting.
