A little about this dish
An opus to cheese on this special day, combining the richness of camembert, the sharpness of cheddar, and the creaminess of ricotta in a fusion tart. This dish is approachable, yet extravagant, classic yet delightful.
Ingredients (for 4)
- Camembert cheese — 7.05 oz — sliced
- Sharp cheddar cheese — 5.29 oz — grated
- Ricotta cheese — 3.52 oz
- Sun-dried tomatoes — 6 — chopped
- Cherry tomatoes on the vine — 4
- Fresh rosemary — 2 sprigs
- Sweet shortcrust pastry sheet — 1
- Egg — 1 — beaten
- Olive oil — 2 tablespoons
- Salt and pepper — to taste
Preparation
-
Step 1 — 🔥🌡️🕓Preheat your oven to 180°C/350°F to get it ready for baking.
-
Step 2 — 🥟✂️🥚Unroll the pastry sheet, cut two circles using a large round cutter and place them on a lined baking tray. Score a smaller circle inside each pastry round to form a border. Brush the borders with the beaten egg.
-
Step 3 — 🥧🕙🍞Bake the pastry for 10 minutes or until lightly golden. Remove from the oven and press the center down if it puffed up during baking.
-
Step 4 — 🧀🍅🥄Spread a layer of ricotta on the base of each tart. Season it with salt and pepper. Top it with the grated cheddar cheese mixed with the sun-dried tomatoes.
-
Step 5 — 🧀🔝👍Place the slices of camembert cheese on the top.
-
Step 6 — 🥧🔥⏲️Put the tart back into the oven for another 10-12 minutes or until the cheese is bubbling.
-
Step 7 — 🍅🌿🍽️Garnish your tart with fresh rosemary sprigs and cherry tomatoes on the vine. Drizzle some olive oil on top and serve warm.
A final fox tip
This recipe is a celebration of cheese. Feel free to substitute or add your favorite cheeses to make it your own. Kids can help with layering the cheeses and adding the garnishes. For a gourmet touch, drizzle with truffle oil or honey before serving.
