In celebration of Korea's Independence Day, we're cooking up a beloved traditional dish that's as symbolic as it is delicious: Bibimbap. This vibrant dish symbolizes unity - bringing together varied ingredients in perfect harmony, much like the Korean people's hope for unity in their country. To make our Bibimbap pop, we're selecting fresh, seasonal vegetables and marinated beef strips for a feast of flavors and eye-catching appeal.
Ingredients (for 4)
- Beef strips - 400 grams - marinated in soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar and garlic
- Carrots - 2 medium - cut into matchsticks
- Spinach - 200 grams - blanched
- Zucchini - 1 large - julienned
- Sprouts - 200 grams - parboiled
- Shiitake mushrooms - 150 grams - thinly sliced
- Eggs - 4 - fried sunny-side up
- Cooked white rice - 4 cups
- Sesame seeds - 4 teaspoons - toasted
- Gochujang paste - 4 tablespoons
- Sesame oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - to taste
Preparation

Step 1 - 🥕🥦🔥Stir-fry each vegetable separately in a small amount of sesame oil, seasoning with a pinch of salt. Set each cooked vegetable aside.

Step 2 - 🥩🍄🍳Stir-fry the marinated beef strips and shiitake mushrooms until the beef is fully cooked and the mushrooms are golden brown.

Step 3 - 🍚🥕🥩Divide the cooked rice among four bowls. Arrange each vegetable and the beef beautifully near the center of the bowl over the rice.

Step 4 - 🥚🍳🍲Place the sunny-side-up egg in the center of each bowl, over the vegetables and beef. Sprinkle each bowl with toasted sesame seeds.

Step 5 - 🌶️🥣🍽️Serve with gochujang paste on the side, allowing each person to add to their own taste.
