Pairing the freshness of Tuna with the vibrancy of Mexican flavors, this recipe is all about creating unexpected harmony on a plate. The warmth of the spices are perfect for cooler weather, despite bringing to mind sunny, tropical climates.
Ingredients (for 2)
- Tuna fillets - 2 fillets - fresh or frozen and thawed
- Taco shells - 4 - regular size
- Ripe mango - 1 - pitted, peeled, and diced
- Ripe avocado - 1 - pitted, peeled, and diced
- Small red onion - 1/2 - finely chopped
- Small jalapeno - 1 - seeds removed, minced
- Fresh cilantro - handful - finely chopped, plus more for garnish
- Lime - 2 - juice and zest
- Ground cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
- Ground coriander - 1/2 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1/2 teaspoon
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste

Step 1 - 🥣🥭🥑In a bowl, combine mango, avocado, red onion, jalapeno, cilantro, and juice of 1 lime. Season with salt and pepper and set aside.

Step 2 - 🥣🐟🌶️In a small bowl, combine cumin, coriander, and paprika. Season tuna fillets with this spice mix.

Step 3 - 🔥🍳🐟Heat oil in a grill pan over medium-high heat. Sear the tuna fillets for 2-3 minutes on each side, until desired doneness. Remove from heat, let rest for a few minutes and then flake with a fork.

Step 4 - 🌮🐟🥭Warm the taco shells. Divide the flaked tuna among the shells, top with mango avocado salsa and garnish with fresh cilantro.

Additional
If you aren't a fan of tuna, feel free to replace it with another fish like cod or salmon. Also, if you have kids helping, they can assist putting together the salsa and assembling the tacos. And don't forget, if the heat is too much, simply leave out the jalapeno!
